There is no better indicator to a dive bar enthusiast that he has hit pay dirt then seeing a set of old fashion swinging saloon doors greet him as he enters an establishment. At Tin Horn Flats, the sensation felt after entering the bar isn't anything similar to what Gary Cooper might have encountered as he bellied up to the bar but more reminiscent to what Norm felt as he walked pass the gang at Cheers. Adorned with old license plates, TV screens and newspaper clipping, this local hang out welcomes anyone partial to blue jeans and good times. Stocked with an assortment of draft beers ranging from Miller Lite to a few micro-brews plus shelves of every hard liquor known to man, there is something for everyone in this place. The bartenders and waitresses tend to favor skimpy outfits exposing their stomachs and tattoos while the cook in the back serves up a variety of American standards from burgers to shrimp baskets. The food and booze are reasonably priced and the patio in the back is a great place to bring the wife and kids for lunch. There is a pool table and dart machine for entertainment along with a half dozen glowing TV monitors lined along the walls broadcasting all of the important sporting events. A popcorn machine sits next to the high tech jukebox which has every typical dive bar song ranging from Lynyrd to Frank. During football season, you won't be able to get a seat on Sunday mornings as the bar has become the "official" hang out for wayward Chicago Bear fans looking to rub elbows and exchange stories about Ditka and the Monster of the Midway. In recent years, the number of women football fans that frequent the place has more than tripled making the scenery that much more nicer to look at. Don't plan on staying late though as the place is located right smack in the middle of a residential area thus exposing it to pesky local ordinances limiting the hours of operation. This could work to your advantage for those of you who don't know when to quit and might be a blessing in disguise.
