Only slightly intimidating with the flannel-clad women lounging out front, the Speakeasy proved to be warm & friendly inside. Deep black booths and a long wooden bar mark the decor of this dimly lit tavern on Pico. The bartenders are friendly, as is the crowd of regulars who know everyone’s name and will gladly learn yours. Karaoke on Thursday is a real treat as patrons use the wireless mic to it’s full advantage and tend to work the entire bar for their routines. Any jukebox with Elvis Costello is alright by me, with a couple pool tables and the obligatory Golden Tee rounding out the rest of the entertainment.

Jukebox: there’s some gems here
Crowd: mostly barflies
Bartenders: friendly enough
on tap: full liquor, and nuthin’ but bottles & cans for beer
Your wallet: go ahead and buy a round
