here for pictures The Buffet is a lovely little Tucson bistro, opening at 6 am (often
with drunks from the night before still in unconscious residence on the shuffleboard
table). First fight is often in the parking lot by 7, but it is a generally
nonviolent (ie, as long as you don't happen to be an internal organ susceptible to
the wondrous transformative properties of alcohol) and copascetic place to hoist as
many low-priced rounds as you can hold. A fun place to bring a date since most of
the vagrants in the neighborhood are regulars and will note the fresh meat, and
after a few tentative staggers they will come close--very close--to make her feel
especially at home (well, at a home, anyway).
The drinks are free pour, as it should be, so tip your tender well...it pays off in
subsequent rounds. For no reason I can make out, from time-to-time the barkeep will
distribute poker chips to everyone present, which you can exchange for your next
round. The food is an absolute delight...after the Tucson Christmas Beer Mile, one
of the holiday makers we met at the pub needed to scrape together a couple of dimes
to make a dollar to trade for two (2) hot dogs with all the fixin's; the holiday
spirit was such that the barmaid pulled an extra out of the fetid (best kind) water
and slapped it on the table in front of him, splashing a bit of brine into my
eggnog. In addition to the wieners, there are other things, too; never really been
sober enough to take too much note, tough.
